Wouldn’t be Caught Dead in One, GM CEO Calls the Prius a Geek-Mobile

In the grand scheme of things, General Motors a little late on purpose-built hybrid extended range electric car game. Toyota has just launched its third generation Prius and Honda Insight in his generation. At worst, the soon-to-be released Chevy Volt a logical step from a marketing perspective, if consumers want frumpily style eco-cars, so who we are, the automakers say otherwise?

So it's a bit hard to swallow when the current GM CEO Dan Akerson, describes the Volt biggest rival - some would even say that the raison d'être - a geek-mobile. Here are his exact words:

"We often refer to mobile geek like the Prius. And I would not be caught dead in a Prius."

If Prius geek-mobile, which means that the Volt? It's a me-too-Mobile? And the word "nerd" and colored in our 21st century world. In the U.S., uses 74% of the population online, 27% of Apple's own iPhone, and almost half of them on Facebook or MySpace. And avatar, the movie by many as the most successful films ever made, a member of the classic geek Genre: Sci-fi.

No wonder more than two million have been sold since prior mark was? In some respects there is little nerd in us all. We buy organic, I tuned to the lost and we can use our smart phones to text our friends, we ate for lunch.

It seems to me that GM wants as much as possible from the Japanese partner Volt. Have you noticed how no one at GM, Chevrolet, or the press called it a hybrid? This is the extended range electric car. If it's not a euphemism geeks know what it is.

Volts Akerson "looks really good", compared to the Prius goes on sale later this year. with a starting price of U.S. $ 41,000 (€ 31.016), the Volt is more expensive than its nearest competitor, although some customers are entitled to U.S. $ 7.500 (€ 5.674) a federal tax.
